No.20. The Chinese have asked the Government of India to refrain from depressing the silver market by further sales of silver. The India Office have replied that the Indian Government will, as in the past, act in such a way as to cause the minimum effect on the

market. If they can devise some means of selling a commodity without producing a tendency to decrease the price, they will be very clever
